Sebastian B. Heersink, MD
Cataract & Laser Refractive Surgeon
A native of Dothan, Alabama, Sebastian B. Heersink graduated with a with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At MIT, he was inducted into the National Mechanical Engineering Honor Society, Pi Tau Sigma, and won the Padmakar P. Lele award for his senior thesis. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. He was a research fellow at the National Eye Institute in Bethesda MD. He completed his Ophthalmology training at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Heersink is an investigator for multiple ongoing FDA Phase 3 and Phase 4 clinical trials for investigational new drugs, medical devices and drug delivery systems in the areas of cataract, glaucoma, and blepharitis/dry eye. His primary clinical interests include the management and surgical treatment of complicated cataract procedures, MIGS procedures, refractive surgery, and comprehensive ophthalmic care.
His professional memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology.
